Chelsea and Seth -- Spring Wedding Preview

Lucky for Seth and Chelsea, this weekend was absolutely perfect weather for a spring wedding, especially an outdoors spring wedding! Mid 60's, bright and sunny. A few of the groomsmen complained a time or two about being too hot in their all black, so I just kept reminding them how lucky they were, and that I have photographed weddings when it was in the the 90s, and everyone was sweating bullets. We had a wonderful day, and Chelsea and Seth were the most laid back, calm and collected couple. Here are a few of my favorites from their special day:

When I arrived at the location where the groom and his half of the wedding party were getting ready, Brody was in the backyard playing golf like a pro. At not even 2 years old, he had a pretty mean swing. Brody clearly loves playing golf, because when we tried to pull him away for a picture with his dad he was none too happy. Unfortunately for him, this made for a sad little boy, but fortunately for me, it also was a pretty good photo op!

Loved the dance moves from this little guy. He was tearing it up like a pro.

here comes the sun...

There is nothing I love more than sunlight...there's just something about being bathed in sun that makes anything pretty.

I purchased a few new lenses (mostly for wedding use) that showed up last week. I finally had a chance to go outside and play around with them...can't wait to use them on Chelsea's outdoor wedding this weekend!

The first is a 70-200 f/2.8 macro zoom lens. This lens will be especially helpful in dark churches, or for just about anything, including this:

For this picture I turned off my camera's autofocus to capture some beautiful out of focus bokeh.

The second lens is a Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 lens...a very, very wide angle. Great for getting up close and personal at wedding receptions, and other fun things. Including incredibly awkward self portraits sans makeup.

That is one, very long arm (and look at that forehead!)

On that note, the busy wedding season is beginning, and I will be very busy this summer...looking forward to using all of my fun new "toys" to capture your special day!

Congratulations!!!

A few months ago I photographed Brooke's headshots in preparation for college dance team tryouts. I am so thrilled to tell you that Brooke made the 2010-2011 University of Kansas Rock Chalk Dancer team. The Rock Chalk Dancers are incredibly talented, and I know Brooke will be an amazing addition to the team! So happy for you, Brooke!

Baby George Preview

Even though I have a very important test tomorrow that I should be studying for, I decided I couldn't wait to edit a few of little George's pictures from his newborn session today. I just love his little red hair! He was great, and we were all very pleased that he finally fell asleep at the very end of the session.
