Austin - Topeka Senior Preview

I always do my best to be very prompt in getting client images online as soon as possible after a session. I can sometimes even get them up in less than 24 hours...but not usually more than 2 weeks after a session. For my poor younger brother, Austin, he has waited since March to see the first part of his senior pictures. Fortunately for me, he hasn't complained or asked to see them once. Today, after a long evening of working on some of the WRHS football pictures, I decided to be nice and finally put a few up for a preview.

Story behind the photos...even though Austin was technically a junior when these were taken, it has become tradition for the kids in my family to have their senior photos taken while we visit our grandparents in Naples, FL. When I was a senior, I had a man take my pictures, back in 2004. When my sister Elizabeth was a senior in 2008, I took her senior pictures the March before her senior year. So, seeing as Austin will be a senior this school year, we took a few pictures in Naples this past March when we were in Naples. Thanks for being patient, Austin, and hopefully we will knock out the rest in Kansas soon enough!

Darrell and Lacie - Lawrence, KS Engagement Preview

This past week I had the pleasure to photograph Darrell and Lacie who are getting married next April. Thanks to the ever changing Kansas weather, we did more than our share of re-scheduling, but fortunately we were able to get their engagement session in before they move to San Diego, California. Darrell just got drafted to play for the San Diego Chargers, and was only back home in Lawrence for a few weeks, so we had to be sure to fit in the pictures before the wedding in April. Both Lacie and Darrell were absolutely wonderful to work with. Lacie is a sweetheart, and Darrell was such a good sport. It's always good to see the men just as excited about the engagement session as the women.

As a result of both of their close connections to Lawrence and The University of Kansas, they each had lots of locations that were special to them that they wanted to be photographed at. It was lots of fun, and I look forward to photographing their wedding next year!

Congratulations also goes to Darrell for recently being named the Big 12 Male Sportsperson of the Year!

Jetter Family - Topeka Family Photo Preview

As I mentioned in this post I recently photographed the Jetter Family while everyone was back in town over the holiday weekend. I've known Ashley for quite some time, and over the past few years we have collaborated a few times creatively. Ashley has a wedding (and other occasion) invitation design business called Something You Design. Ashley is a very talented designer, and you should definitely check out her website. In addition, she also has a fun mommy blog with some great resources, called The Domestic Wannabe. Ashley and her husband, Chris, have a brand new addition, little Ryann, who was a trooper despite the early morning, hot day, bright sun and humid air (as was the rest of the family!)

Trying to keep a 3 month old entertained during family photos is quite the task, as you can see from this candid shot.

Some pretty cute grandparents :)

Love the way Ashley is looking over at Ryann :)

Giving Ryann a little break from the action

Doesn't Lorin have the prettiest blue/green eyes? I photographed her senior pictures many years ago, and they are still the prettiest eyes I have ever photographed :)

Winding down on Daddy's lap with a cute, little, quirky smile...and a little upset at the lady with the camera on her face...sorry, Ryann!

So pretty!

Ashley and Justin - Engagement Preview

I had the pleasure of photographing an absolutely wonderful couple, Ashley and Justin, for their engagement pictures recently. You always see the football player and cheerleader end up together in movies, but this cute couple did it in real life. Ashley was a cheerleader at KU, and Justin played football for KU, and they are just the cutest couple. Justin is currently working out with the NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and lucky for Ashley, he is home for a few weeks during the summer and we were able to fit in their engagement session before he heads back to Pittsburgh! I think the photos will speak for themselves, but they are such a fun and loving couple, and I can't wait to photograph their wedding next year!

Love this one... :)

I think a little bit of Ashley's inner cheerleader came out in this picture :)
